I made a copy of the guardianship letter, and Fed Ex the original back to the NC Secretary of State. Hopefully they will complete this as quickly as they completed the first set!

Oct 19th

Receive package from Kevin & Erin, with new and improved, all on one page Guardianship letter. It got "delayed" by Fed ex. I hope they don't charge me for overnight, when it took THREE DAYS!

Stalk the Fed Ex tracking site once again. My package made it safe to Albany! WOO HOO!

FINALLY understand what the heck my adoption agency is talking about, and send my birth certificate to the NY Secretary of State. I Fed Ex it to Albany. I have decided I probably won't make DTC in October, but learn to live with it. November is a good month too. :-)

Oct 14th

Totally SHOCKED, because my documents have come back from the State Dept sooo quickly. I wasn't expecting them until next week!

Then I open up the envelope and there is a problem. 2 of my documents didn't get the State seal of approval.
1) my guardianship form. (Single applicants need this, couples don't) The notary who signed this divided his notary signature on to two different pages, and NC won't accept it. Frantic phone calls to my sister and brother & law follow this. They are fabulous and totally understanding and rush to have a new copy made and signed and notarized TODAY.
2) My birth certificate. I'm puzzled because I was born in NY but my directions from my agency say NC will accept this as long as I notarize that it's a true copy. Apparently NC has not gotten the same directions as I did, because they aren't having any part of this. MANY freak out moments occur, many calls to NY various depts, calls to my agency. General Flipping Out ensues.
This counts as FREAK OUT NUMBER TWO!

Today I Fedex the envelope with all of my dossier documents to the NC Secretary of State. I'm nervous, because all my hard work is in this envelope!!

Today I got a call from Sandy at Adoptions Together. If I book it with my dossier, I may be DTC this month! I'm pretty excited so after work I rush to the Fedex/Kinko's place to make copies to send to the NC Secretary of State.
